DealNav setup guide

AI agents & API

Connect a chat app, a developer tool, or your own software to DealNav.

Chat apps

Claude

Works on claude.ai and in the Claude desktop app. Add it once and it appears in both.

  1. Get your DealNav connection link. If you're not a DealNav admin, ask yours to send it. Admins:
    • In DealNav, open Integrations in the left sidebar.
    • On the AI agents & API card, click Set up.
    • Under Connection links, click Copy connection link next to the dataset.
  2. In Claude, click Customize in the left sidebar, then the Connectors tab.
  3. Click Add in the top-right corner, then Add custom connector.
  4. Name it DealNav, paste your link into MCP server URL, and click Continue.
  5. Leave the sign-in settings as they are. Click Add.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. Sign in to DealNav if asked, then click Allow.
  8. Start a new chat, click +, point to Connectors, and switch on DealNav.

Try: "How many active deals do we have, and which stage has the most?"

ChatGPT

Set it up on chatgpt.com in a web browser. Once it's added there, it also shows up in the ChatGPT desktop app under Settings, Plugins.

  1. Get your DealNav connection link. If you're not a DealNav admin, ask yours to send it. Admins:
    • In DealNav, open Integrations in the left sidebar.
    • On the AI agents & API card, click Set up.
    • Under Connection links, click Copy connection link next to the dataset.
  2. In ChatGPT, click Plugins in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Add in the top-right corner, then Create MCP App.
  4. Name it DealNav. Under Connection, keep Server URL selected and paste your link.
  5. Leave Authentication on OAuth. Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create.
  6. Click Continue to DealNav.
  7. Sign in to DealNav if asked, then click Allow.
  8. Start a chat and mention DealNav in your request.

Try: "Using DealNav, how many active deals do we have?"

Developer tools

Claude Code and Codex connect with a DealNav API key.

Create a key (DealNav Owners and Admins): in DealNav, open Integrations in the left sidebar, click Set up on the AI agents & API card, and click Create key. Under Access, choose Read only or Read and write, pick one dataset, and click Create key. Copy the key now; it's shown only once.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http dealnav https://deal-nav.com/dealnav-api/api/ext/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer dlnv_..."

Open a new session and run /mcp to confirm.

Codex

export DEALNAV_API_KEY="dlnv_..."
codex mcp add dealnav --url https://deal-nav.com/dealnav-api/api/ext/mcp --bearer-token-env-var DEALNAV_API_KEY

Run codex mcp list to confirm. Put the export line in your shell profile so the key is there next time.

Or in the ChatGPT desktop app (it runs Codex):

  1. Open Settings, then Plugins.
  2. Click Add, then Add MCP server.
  3. Name: dealnav. Type: Streamable HTTP.
  4. URL: https://deal-nav.com/dealnav-api/api/ext/mcp
  5. Under Headers, enter Key Authorization and Value Bearer followed by your key.
  6. Click Save.

The command line and the desktop app share one list of servers. If you use the desktop app, add DealNav there so it keeps the key: the desktop app may not see a key saved only in your shell profile.

Good to know

  • Who can do what. Only DealNav Owners and Admins can see connection links and create keys. Anyone with access to a dataset can connect to it with their own DealNav sign-in.
  • The link is safe to share with your team. It opens nothing by itself: each person signs in with their own DealNav login, and sees only what they can see in DealNav.
  • Changes follow your DealNav access. If you can edit in DealNav, the AI can too, and it asks before each change. View-only users can only look things up. To keep the AI to look-ups, untick Also let it create and update records before you click Allow.
  • Stop Claude asking before every lookup: in Claude, go to Customize, Connectors, your DealNav connector, Tool permissions, and click the check mark on the actions whose names start with Find, Get, List, or Query.
  • On a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan, a workspace admin may need to allow custom apps before Create MCP App appears.
  • One connection per dataset. Connect each dataset separately and give each its own name.
  • DealNav doesn't use your data to train AI. Your chat app's own data settings apply to what it sees.
